January 29- Christylez Bacon
Christylez Bacon (pronounced: chris-styles) is a GRAMMY® Nominated Progressive Hip-Hop artist and multi-instrumentalist from Southeast, Washington, DC. As a performer, Christylez multi-tasks between various instruments such as the West African djembe drum, acoustic guitar, and the human beat-box (oral percussion), all while continuing the oral tradition of storytelling through his lyrics.
February 26- Ryan Lucas
Ryan Lucas is a music producer from Washington DC. He creates music to shed light on the pleasure and pain that comes with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. He is influenced by creatives such as Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Dick Gregory, Mos Def, Common and Pharrell Williams.
March 26- Moluba
Moluba, is a Liberian American artist by way of Silver Spring, Maryland. His name was given to him by his great grandmother on her arrival to the U.S. from Liberia, when she escaped the civil war that had plagued the country most of Moluba’s young life. Moving with the spirit of his ancestors, Moluba comes with a diverse and gripping sound that mixes hip-hop, jazz, spiritualism, and soul into a gumbo of genre bending magic. His music is heavily influenced by his jazz trumpet background, and greats such as Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, Miles Davis, and Lauren Hill.
